Environment Hw

This song is titled Hijau by Zainal Abidin. Its a Malay song but don't worry, I'll translate for everyone's convenience. I only translate the 1st part before the chorus. The chorus I don't really know how to translate becoz its not in Malay; its in jawa(if i not wrong). The song is on the left side of the blog.

Hijau-: Translation:

Bumi yang tiada rimba;.... Earth that have no forest
Seumpama hamba;....... ....Like slave
Dia dicemar manusia;....... Polluted by humans
Yang jahil ketawa;............. Who laughs evilly

Bumi yang tiada udara;..... Earth that have no oxygen
Bagai tiada nyawa;............. Like no life
Pasti hilang suatu hari;..... Will surely disappear one day
Tanpa disedari,.................. Without knowing

Bumi tanpa lautan;............ Earth without sea/ocean
Akan kehausan;.................. Will be thirsty
Pasti lambat laun hilang;... Will disappear bit by bit
Duniaku yang malang;........ My suffering world

Dewasa ini;.......................... ............................This adulthood
Kita saling merayakan;...... .............................We will celebrate
Kejayaan yang akhirnya membinasakan;...... Work that finally destroyed
Apalah gunanya;............................................. What's the use
Kematangan Fikiran;...................................... Of mature thinking?

Bila dijiwa;................................... When our soul
Kita masih lagi muda;................. Still young
Dan mentah;................................ And fresh
Ku lihat hijau;............................. I see greenery

That's the song... Well maybe you guys can't understand it but nevermind. I'll explain. This song; Hijau which is green in malay, mainly talks about man ruining our Earth and what will happen to Earth in the future if we never considerate about any action now. I feel that the song really describe about the present. Like for instance, global warming that melts the ice in Antarctica and the funny change in climate. However, i wonder, with this type of songs, media, article or even games, will it have any effect to people? I hope so becoz i don't want to live under water or in the moon or even mars.So i hope people out there, who's doing these stuff like deforestation, please stop. Or the producing carbon dioxide which can cause the thinning of the ozone layer. Well, that's my thought about this topic. Hope you guys like the song. :D

Conversation Homework....

1. Tell me about a time when you suffered from an injury or were in pain.

> When I was in Primary 3, I broke my right leg. It was really painful. I remembered that I cried and cried in pain. I can't run or walk with my right leg. So, I have to use crutches. Its very difficult at first but after a week, I got the hang of it. I can't use my right leg for about 2 weeks. Its very troublesome and awkward. My leg was plastered with a hard-like cement bandage. I even walked like a robot!!! Not to mention that my leg itched and I cannot scratched it because the bandage was hard. Lucky for me, the time that I had to bandage my leg, it was during the June holiday. So, I need not go to school and being laughed at.

>When I'm in pain at that time, I always watched VCD or any movie at home and always make myself more comfortable. I remember the time that I cried in pain because I accidently stomped my feet on the ground which gave 'electric signal' to my whole body. And because of that, I could feel the pain even more. So, my mum bought me an ice-cream and turn on the TV to my favourite movie. I watched it while eating my ice-cream happily. And that did reduce the pain.

2. The use of alternative medicine is becoming very widespread. Why might this be so?

>Maybe this is due to the ineffectively 'modern' medicine. So, people will try to think of other alternatives like herbalism, traditional Chinese medicine, meditation, yoga, hypnosis and acupuncture. Some sickness or diseases cannot cure with pills. Some are mentally sick so they have to go to the expert. There are lots of advantages. One of it is that the other alternatives are not that expensive compared to the hospital bills. Just imagine, we just go to the doctor to check-up, and you have to pay a few dollars. The other reason is that pills might have other side effect like dizziness or sleepiness. But with the other help, they use natural herbs or mind to cure and there will be no chemical added. So its more safer. Furthermore, people nowadays are more open-minded (i think). They can think of other alternatives instead of the high technology. It does not mean that natural herbs or mental help are not good. Maybe they are the best. Who know?

>Alternative medicine cause concern for some people is because some people does not believe in these things. They always believe in pills that can cure sickness. And if the doctor says that they can't live long, they will just let it be. But they must also find a way to cure themsleves. They can't depend on pills or doctor. They must believe in natural things and if they are lucky, with the help of it, they can just survive longer or survive until their old age. Sometimes, we have to think in the perspective of religion not only in science.

P.S: sorry for the long-winded essay.... hehe.... Just sharing my thoughts.... Hope Ms Chee will like it... :D

Poverty

To me, poverty is poor... But the exact meaning is... Poverty is the deprivation of common necessities such as food, clothing, shelter and safe drinking water, all of which determine our quality of life.

I tink tat Micro financing is good bcoz it helps the poor ppl to be more independent n earn money for daily need. At 1st i dont believe tat micro financing even exists. But thanks to Ms Chee, I noe tat it really exist.

I tink tat it can eradicate poverty bcoz women usually are hard working so they can earn money. By earning money, they will not be poor... :D
Thus it prevent poverty.

I tink S'pore do take care of our poor bcoz they haf charity, donation and many more. I also rarely or nvr see any poor ppl lying on the streets begging for money. So, yup, my ans is yes.
